An Auto Center Offers Winter Driving Tips!

Auto Shop Billings MT

As winter is just around the corner, an auto shop would like to offer driving tips so that motorist can be as safe as possible with a reliable vehicle. Before heading out on a cold day, whether it’s just for a short commute to work, or whether you’re going for some fun in the snow, have an  inspection of the various vehicle systems performed at your preferred auto shop!  Take care of any potential problems before they have a chance to happen!.  The last thing you want is to be stranded out in the cold, looking for an auto shop for an emergency repair.

If you are looking for Car Alignment Billings MT than find our dedicated Auto Shop Billings MT Services shop. Also find Car Axles Billings MT to have safe driving.

To help drivers stay safe on winter roads, an auto shop offers these 5 tips:

  1. Regular maintenance services:  Schedule an inspection of the brakes, transmission, radiator tank and hoses, battery charge, lights, and wiper blades to make sure they are functioning properly.  Have all fluids (oil, brake, transmission, etc.) and changed or topped- off as necessary, using high-quality filters for increased performance.
  2. Tires:  Check the inflation pressure and the tread depth on your tires.  It may be necessary to have them rotated or aligned to correct abnormal wear problems.  Or, you may need to purchase new tires, possibly snow tires, for increased safety.  Make sure the spare is in good condition too!
  3. Clean out your car:  So that you and your passengers are more comfortable, clean out your car!  Rubber floor mats will help protect your carpets.  Make sure your windows are clean so there is nothing obstructing your view.  To increase fuel efficiency, remove unnecessary items from the trunk and backseat.
  4. Emergency Kit:  Keep a roadside emergency kit in the trunk, which should include blankets, flares, jumper cables, flashlight, snacks, and water.
  5. Anti-freeze: Make sure the ratio of anti-freeze is adequate for freezing temperatures.
Although your auto shop can’t guarantee that the unexpected won’t happen, you will not only experience an increase in gas mileage and driving performance, but you will gain peace of mind!

Watch for these six warning signs of auto electrical problems:

  1. Dashboard Warning Light –When the dashboard light come on for the “ALT” or “GEN,” something needs immediate attention. Don’t ignore it and hope it will go off on its own.
  2. Strange Sounds in the Engine – Strange sounds coming from the engine is an indication that there is some grinding or friction going on with the belts under the hood.
  3. Burning Smell – A burning smell could be caused by over-heating electric connections, indicating a circuit or fuse malfunction.
  4. Dimming Lights – This is usually an indication of failing alternators--the car battery can’t keep a charge to run the lighting system.
  5. Dead Battery – If a jump-start gets you going, don’t forget to have your battery checked.  Weak batteries can cause further damage to starters and alternators.
  6. Broken or Loose Connections -- A broken connection or wire can lead to a series of electrical malfunctions.  A simple auto electrical service, such as reconnecting an on-line fuse or connection can bring life back to your car.
